Delaware Valley (PA) Chapter of The Links, Incorporated
The Links Incorporated has a strong record of support for the performing and visual arts, especially where it is focused on the presentation of artists of color. We want to expand art activity and elevate our programs, effectively creating an art's renaissance within our organization’s programmatic efforts.
Throughout our fifty-year history, Delaware Valley Chapter has also provided a plethora of impressive programming in the arts. We’ve partnered with museums, symphonies, accomplished professional artists in diverse disciplines and art councils to support performances for and by youth. One of our programs includes, “Classics through the Ages,” that focuses on increasing the interest, knowledge and participation of African-American youth in classical arts. These activities encourage youth to develop and refine their artistic talents.
Our passion for the arts is revealed throughout our 50 plus year history where we have:
The past couple of years, our chapter introduced and exposed young people of our communities to programs at area museums and in theatre arts and the dance. Today, we support and exhibit the work of the local artist, Susan Ragland and salute the professional and volunteer service of Jeri Lynn Johnson, conductor of the Black Pearl Chamber Orchestra of Philadelphia.
Our chapter executed a program called, Opera at the Wissahickon Boys and Girls Club, where students learned about different types of Opera and famous African American Opera singers. Our chapter also sponsored a trip for WBGC students to view the Designs for Different Futures exhibit at the Philadelphia Art Museum.
